Finally, a great result of our ERC Proof-of-Concept project: after a very very long preparation phase, 17 years after we first had the idea how to model the processes in a microchannel plate photomultiplier tube (MCP-PMT) but never found time to finish, an excellent student picked it up and took it to publication. The paper was submitted to Nucl. Instr. Meth. A, is available on arXiv at https://doi.org/10.48550/arXiv.2512.02990, and was presented at the PD2025 workshop in Bologna on Dec. 4, 2025. And: on Dec 10, Andrej Kodrič defended his Master Thesis on this detector with flying colours!
